Course Description:

This course will examine personal computer hardware, and software applications.  How to install, hardware – drivers – software.  Student will learn how to select and install hardware components, including processors, memory, power supply, hard drives.

Student Expectations:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

 

Ø      Identify hardware components, such as processors, ram, power supply, ect.

Ø      Identify the main characteristics of components.

Ø      Install and upgrade various components in the computers – RAM, Power Supply, ect

Ø      Define user requirements and select components to meets requirements.

Ø      Use the Internet as a source for current hardware and software developments.

Ø      Use various systems tools provided by the OS.

Note:

A lab/supplies card, purchased from the college bookstore is also required
for use of the West Valley College Technology Center.

 

Grading Policy:

This course is Credit / No Credit.  To receive credit you must complete all the assignments/ projects with at least a 70% average.  You may only miss one class session. If you need to drop the course, it is your responsibility to do so.
